I think the last Pixar film I watched was Ratatouille, which I loved. So I wasn't all that keen on seeing Up, because really, how can you top a cooking rat in the heart of Paris?
Turns out, you kinda can! Up is the story of an old man trying to fulfill his dead wife's wish of visiting a place called Paradise Falls. He ends up tying a million balloons to his house and floating away to get to his destination. I know, it sounds hokey, which is why I didn't want to watch it. However, along for the ride is a little Chinese boy scout who is downright hilarious. Later, we meet up with Doug, a talking dog, who acts just like a real dog down to the bone! Plus, he's just too adorable not to like!
There were some very adult themes in the film though, i.e. father issues, miscarriages, and death. I guess this isn't the Disney we used to know. An entertaining movie for both young and old nonetheless!!
