Baby Got Back

My back hurts.

Two weeks ago I moved a couch. Actually, I lifted it up a flight of stairs. Then I did the same with a bed mattress and bed frame.

A week later, the pain in my back started up. I've never had back issues before, so this was all new to me.

A coworker suggested going to a chiropractor. I've never gone to one before, so was hesitant. The first one I went to, turned out to be some weird con-man, who took 4 xrays of me (at $25 a pop), diagnosed me with scoliosis upon first look, and then told me I had to come back for a 2 hour lecture after work that he gives to all his new patients. Turns out, after doing some online research, his 2 hour lecture leads up to signing on for a pre-paid medical program on your spine at a whopping cost of $3,000.

OY!!!

Is this what it's like to go to a chiropractor? I was completely put off and ran to my nearest massage therapist instead. She worked out some kinks, but it still felt like there were two clenched fists in my lower back. She referred me to a chiropractor that she goes to. She told me he was gay and completely hot and that she wished he was straight. Intriguing, but intimidating too. I don't do well around hot guys.

But, my back was screaming for help, so why not. I made the appointment and went yesterday after work. Yes, he turned out to be this strapping man who was very handsome and had a very kind demeanour, so I felt completely at ease with him. He strapped me to a table, the bottom half of which rotated and twisted into all sorts of positions. He put a heated towel on my back to warm up the muscles, and it was so relaxing and lovely... Then he popped my bones into place by ramming his body into mine and it was exciting and scary and hot and amazing all at the same time. Again!! Do it again!!!

Today my back is a million times better, but it's still sore - probably from the massage therapy.

If you're interested and live in Vancouver, the bad chiropractor that I would NOT recommend is Dr. Kilian. And the GOOD chiropractor that I want to fall madly in love with me is Dr. Didyk.
