Movies: Sex and the City 2

Last night I saw the Sex and the City 2 movie. I had avoided reading reviews but had heard through the grapevine that it was supposed to be pretty crappy. Well, readers, I gotta tell ya: I FRICKIN' LOVED IT!!!!

It was fabulous! It was everything I wanted and more! In fact, I found it WAY BETTER than the first one!!

There were two problems that I had with the first SATC movie:
1) The storylines were all so depressing, that it sucked most of the humour out of the characters.
2) Why did they introduce Jennifer Hudson's character and focus on her for 1/3 of the movie?? I did not sign up for that!!

With the sequel, you get none of that! The stories are light and most importantly, our girls are all back together!! Miranda, Charlotte, Samantha, and Carrie. Love, love LOVE!! No filler characters to take up screen time. Exotic locations, awesome guest cameos, half naked men, and fashion porn. What's not to love about it?!!

Sure, yes, the topics have changed from issues like being single and finding the right vibrator to problems with parenthood or ruts in relationships. They still manage to put their own Sex and the City take on things though, which I like. Carrie and Big being judged for not wanting to have kids. Charlotte coping with the trials of motherhood. Samantha's battle against menopause.

Those that have criticisms about their trip to Abu Dhabi and if they were being politically correct or not, need to lighten the hell up! I mean, these are four American women whose characters we know and love. Are you THAT surprised that they would wear the outfits that they wear or say the things that they do? It's all in character, and it's awesome!

The audience was terrific too, so I'd advise you to go now with all the other hard core fans. It was an ocean of sighs and oohs and aahs and gasps and clapping and cheering and laughter and dancing (yes dancing!) and it just made the experience all that more enjoyable, to be alongside fellow fans who were there to live vicariously. (Or should I say, vi-Carrie-ously?! Get it!?)

Don't go expecting the cinematic journey of a lifetime. No. But DO go expecting to see your four favourite gal pals back together again and hamming it up on the big screen and wearing fabulous outfits while doing so.

SEE IT!!!

IN FACT, SEE IT AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!
