Movies: Buried

Good for Ryan Reynolds for trying to do something new and not just signing up for The Proposal Part 2. Buried depicts Reynolds as an American taken hostage in Iraq and buried alive. The entire film takes place in the coffin. That said, it's done pretty well in terms of keeping the audience's interest. It's hard to have a movie take place in one spot for the whole time, so they did a good job of that. However, despite Reynolds' good intentions of branching out into a different kind of film, it didn't quite work. It just wasn't compelling enough and the audience was laughing at times, when they should've probably been more sympathetic or engrossed. Instead, it became a bit of a farce and instead of thriller, it was more camp.

  1. As a claustrophobe, I could never, ever watch this movie.
