I went to a cooking class last summer with Jill, but it was not at the Dirty Apron cooking school. Rather, it was with the Vancouver School Board and it was held in a boiling hot classroom that the sun chose to set in after work let out every Tuesday for a month. We learned how to make Frittatas and stew and cupcakes and soup. We had to race to the cupboards to try and gather up all the equipment at the beginning of each class because nothing was sorted and we wanted to get the best stuff before everyone else. We had to partner up with two youngsters, one of whom was overly intense while the other was busy looking at photos of her dog on her phone.
Anyway, it was quite an experience and probably not as chic or cool as a class taken at the Dirty Apron Cooking School. Peeking into their workspace, people stood coupled behind individual counters/workspaces. It reminded me of that Will & Grace episode where they go take cooking classes together. Perhaps Jill & I should sign up for the Dirty Apron.
But in the meantime, they have opened up a deli!! And their sandwiches are freshly made and ready to serve. As well, I have four words for you: Grilled Goat Cheese Sandwich. COME ON!!! Since I have a lactose issue, but can handle goat cheese, this sandwich is PERFECT for me and I can't wait to go back and try it! I can't believe I didn't try it already!
There's also a couple of communal tables available for you to sit and enjoy your meal. The staff were friendly and it was a cool little space, sure to be filled as news gets out of its existence more and more.
OMG, I can't wait to try some of these new food haunts in April!! You'll be around, right?
