Books: Born With a Tooth

I'm a fan of Joseph Boyden's. I think he's a great writer, and after having read his two novels, I simply had to see what his work was like prior to that. His first offering was this compilation of short stories.

I did this with another favourite Canadian author of mine, Rohintin Mistry. I read his novels, loved them, and then went back to the beginning to see how he started out with short stories. His novels were better than the short stories, in my opinion.

With Joseph Boyden however, Born With a Tooth is a great collection of his work and I felt inspired reading his writing and seeing that he didn't have far to go in terms of talent and ability. Each story was different and written clearly and in unique ways and described experiences that I never would have imagined. If you like short stories and First Nations literature, then this would be a good bet!
