I was watching an episode of Sex and the City the other night, and it was the episode where the girls are out having lunch in the meat packing district. Miranda looks at the menu and comments, "$20 for a burger! That's ridiculous!"
I didn't quite feel that way when I went to Stackhouse, a new burger joint in downtown Vancouver the other night. Located on the Granville strip, across the street from the Morrissey, the new restaurant is designed by the same people who put together Meat and Bread and Bao Bei (thanks Chris for the heads up on that!) The look is definitely there, and the food was quite good too. I had a lamb burger with goat cheese, fries, and a beer. I don't remember the cost of the meal, but I didn't mind paying the bill at the end. Looking back, yeah I guess they do charge a bit of a steep price for a burger, when I could easily go to White Spot and get a burger for half that. Still, this is a fun new place to go to when you're in the mood to splurge and get something a little more gourmet!
