Movies: Incendies

During my travels, I watched many a movie on the airplane. Most airplane movies are there to help you pass the time. However, I lucked out when I realized I had the chance to finally watch the much-talked about Incendies. And boy was it ever worth it!



This French Canadian film is nothing short of immense. It spans lifetimes and geography, taking you from Montreal to the Middle East. The story is just so grand and overwhelms you, bringing you into its deep dark fire. I can't believe this did not win the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film - I'll have to check out the winner, because if it's better than this movie, that would be quite the achievement.

Incendies is amazing and brilliant, is not for the faint of heart. It's a serious movie, not lighthearted fare. But at the end of the day, it will leave you absolutely breathless.
