I finally got to see this Oscar-award winning film from Iran, which one last year for Best Foreign. It's the story of a Muslim family in Tehran and the mother and father have a separation, and the events that occur because of it. The father takes care of his own aging father as well as tries to raise his young daughter. Meanwhile, the mother has gone to live with her family. To help the father manage going to work and taking care of his dependents, he ends up hiring a woman who has issues of her own.
It's a good movie, but is it Oscar worthy? I haven't seen the other nominees from this past year to really say. However, last year's entry from Canada, Incendies, blew me away and I was shocked when it wasn't called up to the podium to win the award. I thought it was a far better film than this year's winner. However, A Separation is worth a watch as well if you are into foreign films!
See It
But see INCENDIES first!!!
